Glorious weather ensured that Walter H. Squires & Son’s first tournament sponsorship with Uffculme Bowling Club was a thoroughly enjoyable day for all involved. 80 bowlers took part in the tournament, each team of four playing four one hour sessions over eight rounds. Half way through the day the bowlers enjoyed an excellent lunch prepared by the ladies of the Club. Several of the teams have been entering the tournament for a number of years, some coming from as far away as Plymouth, Torquay, Bideford and the Bridgwater and Chard area.

First place was awarded to Val Davis, Jan Hutchins, Rob Honeywell and Pete Hutchins, from the Paignton area, who took the top spot with six points plus 33 shots.

Second place was won by L. Snow, H. Ives, A. Howard and R. Case from the Bridgwater area with six points plus 32 shots.

Third place was won by D. Woolfe, J. Marsh, H. Woolfe and R. Woodland from the Bideford area with six points plus 29 shots.

Fourth place was won by E. Philips, H. Pearce, J. Styles and J. Hamilton from the Exeter area six points plus 21 shots.

The results came down to shot differences, one shot between first and second place, three shot between second and third, and eight shots between third and forth.

Mr Alan Jenkins, a representative from the club said “It was a pleasure to have Ryan Squires attending on the day and to present the prizes. We would like to say a big thank you to Ryan for supporting this event and our club.”
