Mike Woodman and Dennis Smith, two of Walter H. Squires & Son's Funeral Service Operatives, have just returned home from an amazing charity cycle ride that saw them cover the entire length of the UK, John O'Groats to Lands End.
The intrepid pair left home on 13th June and arrived in Lands End on 26th June, an amazing four days ahead of time. The ride saw them cover a total of 1038 miles, covering an average of 83 miles a day and 103 miles in just one day. Mike completed the ride in aid of The Retired Greyhounds Trust and Dennis rode in aid of Cancer Research UK, so far more than £900.00 has been raised.
Commenting on their record achievement Mike said "After reaching a landmark birthday I decided to do something special to mark the year, I’ve been a keen cyclist for years and this seemed like the perfect way to do it." Dennis added "Mike and I belong to the same cycling club so we were able to get plenty of practice in beforehand, but I don’t think either of us expected to finish so early."
Responding to the achievement Ryan said "I’ve always been very proud of our staff but this is an amazing achievement and I'm honoured to be able to say that Mike and Dennis are part of our team. It’s indicative of the level of dedication they give to a task and ultimately the care they have for others, even our four legged friends."
