From Tradition & Integrity Comes Peace of Mind

BowlingOn Sunday, June 28th Tiverton West End Bowling Club played host to players from clubs across Devon, Somerset and Cornwall in one of the most successful tournaments of the season.

The ‘West End Fours Tournament’, sponsored once again by Walter H. Squires & Son in association with Golden Charter, the UK’s leading independent funeral plan provider, enjoyed sunshine for most of the day which made for some exciting and close matched games.

The winners, all having six points, with final positions left to be determined by shot differences. Prizes were presented by Ryan Squires.

First: Dennis Buckingham and his team from Taunton Deane Bowling Club – Rosemary Buckingham, Alan Groundfield, Joyce Groundfield. Runners Up: Val Lander and the team from Plymstock Bowling Club. Third: John Rockey and the team from Fremington Bowling Club. Fourth: John Ashford and the team from Heavitree Bowling Club.

Winners of a West End Triples Tournament were: T. Woollacott, P. Willis and J. Barrie and runners up were T. Gribble, B. Berry and R. Harder.

BowlingCommentating on the day, Club secretary and tournament organiser Ernie Edworthy said, “West End and all of the players were grateful to Ryan Squires and his company, and Golden Charter, for sponsoring and attending the tournament. It was gratifying to see the day appreciated and enjoyed by everyone taking part.”

Walter H. Squires & Son’s company director, Ryan Squires, added “It’s nice to be able to give something back to the community and the sponsorship of bowls tournaments is a great way to do it. We’re always given a warm welcome and shown fantastic hospitality.”
