From Tradition & Integrity Comes Peace of Mind

The current economic climate is difficult enough for most people to bear, but for those suffering bereavement the additional pressure caused by the concerns of funeral costs can make an already bad time seem much worse.

For many people, the turmoil in the financial markets means savings and investments that were perhaps put aside to ensure their loved ones would be spared the financial burden of paying for a funeral, may have significantly dropped in value. Others might have suffered redundancy and are having to rely on savings to replace a regular income. In either situation, or similar, being faced with paying for a funeral can be a very daunting reality, so for a second consecutive year Walter H. Squires & Son have suspended any increase in their professional fees in an attempt to further help the bereaved.

Commenting on the decision, company director Ryan Squires said “Over the last few years we’ve seen a dramatic increase in the cost of disbursements, the fees paid to third parties that we have no control over, and this has meant the cost of providing a simple and dignified funeral has become quite substantial. We decided to suspend any increase in our fees because we are, first and foremost, here to help people in their time of need. By keeping our professional fees to a minimum we are doing our best to ensure that a dignified funeral can be afforded by as many people as possible.”
